In India, not until 2 or so decades cycling was a common mode of transport. All walks of People owned bicycles and those who didn’t, rented them. However with the economic boom and a parallel rise in consumption and aspiration in a free market, the bicycle started to disappear and gradually got replaced by scooters and motor cycles and cars. From a peoples mode of transport bicycle became a poor mans mode of transport. By Janak.
